Half Machine Lip Moves logo with ‘#170’ on it.

We returned from our holiday break to do a 2021 review, in which we played some of 2021’s notable tracks—though we’re not calling this a best of show. 2021 was a garbage year but it wasn’t lacking in great music. We began the show with tracks from upcoming releases we’re looking forward to hearing in 2022. Then we played a set of hot industrial and EBM tracks from 2021. That was followed with a set of darkwave and synthpop from 2021. Then we played a set of dark punk and deathrock from 2021. We played a set of post-punk tracks in the midnight block, then we closed the show with a mix of tracks from goth, noise rock, punk, and more.

We began our fifth holiday show with a warmup set, then we played a set of tracks about Christmas Creatures/Anti-heroes such as Belsnickel, Krampus, Grýla, and the Icelandic Yule Cat. We followed that with a set of dark and twisted holiday songs. Then things took a dark and somber turn in the fourth block. We played a set of yule and winter-themed metal tracks in the fifth block, in honor of winter solstice. Then we wrapped up the show with a mix of tracks. We hope your holiday is a good one—and if you don’t celebrate Christmas then we hope you have a good Friday and Saturday! (And joyous Kwanzaa to all who celebrate it!)

Half Machine Lip Moves logo with ‘#167’ on it.

We began this show with a set of mostly new tracks, and threw in a couple of Krampus-themed songs in honor of it being Krampusnacht on the night the show originally aired. Then we played a block of industrial and EBM tracks. That was followed with a set of deathrock and post-punk. Then we decided to alienate many of our listeners by dropping in a set of noise and power electronics right in the middle of the show. The midnight block was a set of post-punk, and we closed the show with a set themed around the month of December.

Half Machine Lip Moves logo with ‘#164’ on it.

We went back to the industrial grind for our post-Halloween show. Club Nevermore’s DJ 10.29 and DJ Wilhelm (who are also in the band 3num3rat0r) came by to talk about/promote Club Nevermore’s event on November 13, which will feature a performance by the band Unitcode:Machine. We started with some mostly new industrial tracks. We followed that with a set of melodic industrial and EBM, plus we chatted briefly with 3num3rat0r. That was followed with a set of hard and heavy industrial metal. Then we played a set of industrialized techno, a set of synthpop and darkwave at midnight, and we closed the show with a set of new tracks.

Note: we apologize for the sound of the segues. We had problems with the guest microphones and I tried to fix their sound as best as I could in post-production.

We started this episode with a block of hot new darkwave, post-punk, and synthpop tracks. We followed that up with a mix of recent and new post-punk and darkwave tracks. Things ground to a halt and we went into a spooky lo-fi, surrealistic, and haunted-sounding direction for the rest of the show. We played a set of no-wave and experimental in the third block. Our fourth block was a set of eerie-sounding noise. The midnight block began with a haunted track and we went into a surrealistic avante-garde direction. Then we finished the show with a set of warbly astral sounds from inner ambient space.
