Half Machine Lip Moves logo with ‘#216’ on it.

We began this show with a set of brand new tracks. Then we played two blocks of industrial and EBM tracks about hate as part of our anti-Valentine’s Day show. The fourth set was a stop at the dungeon—the kind with whips, chains, etc.—then we played a set of post-punk, darkwave, synthpop, etc. tracks about loneliness, and closed with a set of dark ambient tracks about loneliness, because in the end you’re going home alone.

Episode 215: 2/5/2023 - Operator's Choice Special 2023

Half Machine Lip Moves logo with ‘#215’ on it.

This show was our Operator’s Choice Special, in which I played whatever I wanted—some of them are favorites, and some were tracks that recently caught my ear. The first block was one of EBM, industrial, etc. The second block leaned towards darkwave, post-punk, and synthpop. The third block was a set of vaguely wintry-feeling post-punk tracks. We followed that with a set of shoegaze and adjacent tracks. The fifth block was a set of psychedelic post-punk and experimental tracks. Then we wrapped up the show with some experimental and ambient tracks.

Episode 214: 1/29/2023 - 2022 Review Special, Part 3/3

Half Machine Lip Moves logo with ‘#214’ on it.

We finished our look back at some of the cool and notable music that came out in 2022, and sprinkled in some new stuff (i.e., tracks that come out this year, 2023). We started the show with some new synthpop and synthwave, and one track that stuck stuck out like a sore thumb. Then we played a set of goth and post-punk tracks from last year, along with a couple of new ones. That was followed with some darkwave, etc. tracks that came out last year. After tha was a set of post-punk tracks that came out last year. The midnight block was a set of dungeon synth tracks from 2022, and we finished the show with some shoegaze and experimental tracks that came out last year.

Note: this show was supposed to air on the night of January 29th but the files got corrupted and thus, the show didn’t air as it was supposed to. We’re very sorry about this!

Episode 213: 1/22/2023 - 2022 Review Special, Part 2/??

Half Machine Lip Moves logo with ‘#213’ on it.

We continued our look back at some of the releases that came out in 2022—again, it’s not really a best-of show because I never got around to making a best-of list. The opening set was a mix of industrial and adjacent stuff. We followed that with a set of darkwave ande post-punk. The third block was a set of EBM, etc. tracks. We followed that with some post-punk and goth tracks. The fifth set was a mix of tracks I wanted to play but didn’t have room for in other sets (it was also the last block of the show that was made), and we finished the show with a set of shoegazey tracks.

Half Machine Lip Moves logo with ‘#212’ on it.

We’re back from our holiday hiatus! This is the first installment of our 2022 review, in whch we play some of our favorite or most notable tracks that were released in 2022. (I’m not calling this a best-of show because I never got around to making a best-of list. But these tracks would be on that list, or its honorable mentions, if that list had been made.) We began the show with some industrial tracks. We followed that with a set tracks by local artists. The third block was a set of synthpop, darkwave, etc. tracks. We played some EBM and industrial in the fourth block. The fifth block was goth, post-punk, and deathrock tracks. Then we wound down the show with some shoegaze, experimental, etc. tracks.

Our 2022 holiday hellshow started with a set that was a mix of industrial, metal, darkwave, goth, and dark punk. The second block was a set of Krampus-themed tracks. We played tracks about some other Christmas-related entities, such as the Yule Cat, Mari Lwyd, Frau Perchta, and others in our third set. We leaned into the holiday blues for the fifth set, then we wrapped up the show with a mix of dungeon synth, post-punk, and more!
