We began this show with a couple of tracks honoring a friend’s birthday and a couple of electro-industrial tracks. Then we played a set of industrial, noise rock, and punk tracks from bands fronted by women, in honor of International Women’s Day. Most of the rest of the show were goth, darkwave, post-punk, EBM, and industrial tracks from my DJ sets at March 13’s Club Nevermore. Then we closed the show with a couple of shoegaze tracks.

We started this show off with a mix of industrial, darkwave, and post-punk tracks. Then we got things going with a set of synthpop. The block after that was a set of post-punk, goth, and darkwave by Ukrainian bands. Then we put on a set of experimental, power electronics, and harsh noise walls just because we could. The midnight set was one of old and new industrial new tracks with a theme (war). Then we closed the show with a block of shoegaze tracks, because that’s why I’ve been feeling lately.

That was followed with a set of post-punk, noise rock, and industrial tracks with a theme that should be noticeable (i.e., nuclear war). Episode 173: 2/6/2022
This show was an Operator’s Choice special, in which Operator OT played whatever he wanted. It was also a pre-recorded show, due to a recent sleet and ice storm interrupting OT’s work schedule. The first block was a set of industrial and EBM tracks. That was followed with a set of deathrock and dark punk tracks, including some featuring the late Davey Bales. Then we played a set of post-punk tracks. That was followed up with a set of synthpop, darkwave, and more. The midnight block was another set of post-punk tracks, and we closed the show with a set of shoegaze tracks.
Episode 172: 1/30/2022
We talked about doing a show in which we’d commemorate the thirtieth anniversay of the Soviet Union’s dissolution by playing artists from Russia and former Soviet countries, and it’s here after a month’s delay. We began the show with a set of Soviet Russian synthpop tracks. That was followed with a mix of punk, new wave, and post-punk tracks that were recorded during the Soviet Era. That was followed with a set of recently-released darkwave and post-punk tracks. The fourth block was a set of goth-adjacent post-punk and darkwave tracks that also came out fairly recently. The fifth block was a set of avant garde and experimental tracks from Russia, and we closed the show with a set of dark ambient tracks.
Notes: I (Operator OT) can read Cyrillic but I don’t speak or understand Russian, Ukrainian, etc. I have transliterated the names and titles of artists, songs, releases, etc. to the Latin alphabet. I have included English translations of song titles when possible.
Episode 171: 1/23/2022 - 2021 Review Special, Part 2
The year 2021 had so many good darkwave, synthpop, post-punk, synthpunk, etc. tracks that we couldn’t fit them all into one show! We started this week’s show with a set of synthpunk tracks. We went hard and heavy with some power electronics and death industrial at midnight, then we closed the show with a set of shoegaze tracks.

We returned from our holiday break to do a 2021 review, in which we played some of 2021’s notable tracks—though we’re not calling this a best of show. 2021 was a garbage year but it wasn’t lacking in great music. We began the show with tracks from upcoming releases we’re looking forward to hearing in 2022. Then we played a set of hot industrial and EBM tracks from 2021. That was followed with a set of darkwave and synthpop from 2021. Then we played a set of dark punk and deathrock from 2021. We played a set of post-punk tracks in the midnight block, then we closed the show with a mix of tracks from goth, noise rock, punk, and more.

We played a set of yule and winter-themed metal tracks in the fifth block, in honor of winter solstice. Then we wrapped up the show with a mix of tracks. We hope your holiday is a good one—and if you don’t celebrate Christmas then we hope you have a good Friday and Saturday! (And joyous Kwanzaa to all who celebrate it!)
