Episode 100: 10/06/2019
This show was a milestone for us, ‘cause it was our one hundredth episode—about 95 longer than I thought it would last. We went back to the past and played the tracks we played in our first episode. We started with industrial, played some EBM, noisy industrial, and a set of death industrial tracks. In our last hour—the show was originally a two-hour program before expanding to three hours—we played a block of deathrock and post-punk tracks that were selected by Club Nevermore’s DJ Dagger Dance. (Thanks so much Charity! Your selections were great!) And we ended with some tracks selected by our friend Jason in South Carolina.
A shout out and thanks to some of the people who helped make this possible: KUHS-LP Station Manager Zac; Aaron and Todd from The Record You Need to Know About, for showing me how to record podcasts at the station; DJ Dagger Dance, for her great track selections; Mark, for hanging out and co-hosting; Ipsy, for his graphic design work; and our friends and regular listeners who include (but are not limited to): DJ D/Dark Entries: Goth Radio, Molly, Amanda and Jason, Rosa, Ashley and Bobby, Sean, and many more!
Episode 99: 9/29/2019
We started this episode with a warmup set of industrial tracks. Then we played a set of new tracks (i.e., ones that came out this year), including three local artists. That was followed with a set of industrial and an old school-style EBM tracks. After that we played a set of heavy and noisy industrial tracks, and ended the show with another set of “goodbye summer” tracks
Episode 98: 9/22/2019
We began with an industrial warm-up set, then we played a block of tracks from new releases (i.e., ones that came out this year). That was followed with a set of synthwave, then a block with some old school tracks that inspired the previous set and some tracks inspired by horror movie soundtracks. The last hour was our “goodbye to summer” set which had a mix of dungeon synth, power electronics, ambient, and experimental in honor of this week’s fall equinox.
Episode 97: 9/15/2019
We kicked this show off with some new industrial and EBM tracks. The second block was tracks from local (i.e., Arkansan) post-punk, darkwave, and industrial artists. The third block was a set of requested dark ambient, synthwave, and metal tracks along with a couple of tracks referencing black cats in honor of Friday the 13th. That was followed with a set of spacey noise rock, then there was a set of psychedelic noise. We closed the show with a set of early electronic and a little ambient in honor of this month’s Harvest Moon.
Episode 96: 9/8/2019
We started this show with a set themed around work, because this show was supposed to air over Labor Day weekend but didn’t because of technical problems at the station. That was followed by a set of mostly recent darkwave tracks, and a set of mostly recent post-punk and deathrock songs. We followed that with a set of industrial and EBM. The midnight block was a set of noisy and heavy industrial, and we closed the show with a set of a set of downtempo IDM, industrial, and ambient.
Episode 95: 8/25/2019
The seemingly-lost episode has been found! (Ok, there was a glitch in the first segment and it took some time to fix it.) This show started with some industrial and requested track. The second block was a mix of doom metal and garage synthpunk that was played to spread word about a couple of shows that were happening the following weekend. We followed that up with a set of Belgian New Beat, a block of noise rock, a set of fairly recent dungeon synth tracks, and we closed with some live Wolf Eyes and a Thomas Köner track ‘cause it’s themed around coldness and we’re sick of the summertime heat and humidity.
Episode 94: 08/18/2019
This was our return to the air, after a brief summer hiatus. This show started with a set of industrial metal. Then there was a block of industrial and EBM. That was followed with a block of mostly recent post-punk and deathrock. The block after that was a mix of synthpunk, a couple of tracks referencing the Moon in honor of the recent full moon, and some darkwave. The midnight block was a set of weirdo avant experimental, and we ended the show with a set of ambient themed around ice and winter.
Episode 93: 7/28/2019
This episode started this show with a mix of new industrial and a requested Current 93 track (in honor of it being the show’s 93rd episode). That was followed with a block of post-punk and darkwave. The second half of the show went into a shoegaze direction.
Episode 92: 7/14/2019
We started the episode with some new industrial, EBM, and neo newbeat tracks. Then we did a darkwave and post-punk set, with some Asylum Party songs in honor of their late member Thierry Sobezyk (RIP). That was followed with a block of recent heavy industrial and power electronics, and a block of psychedelic shoegaze. The midnight block featured tracks from Coil and recent songs from former Coil members; and we closed the show with a set of ambient and dark ambient tracks themed around ice, coldness, winter, etc to cool us off after dealing with southern summertime heat and humidity.
Episode 91: 7/7/2019
I (OT) was late getting to the station, but that didn’t stop us. We started with an abbreviated opening set, then the show proper began with a block in of Canada Day, which was last week. Then we started our Fourth of July Holiday Weekend special with a block of industrial tracks, an EBM block, a block mixing doom metal, punk, and industrial. We closed the show with a block themed around UFOs and aliens for the seventy-second anniversary of the Roswell incident.
